It is pointless to count how many things you can do on a computer, but it is worth mentioning that certain tasks work better with different settings. Changing the resolution on your desktop, modifying the network settings and making other configurations will help you work in a comfortable manner. The problem is that the options are scattered all over the operating system, making it a tedious job to select different settings, each time you need to work with different applications or on a different network. An excellent solution is Quick Config. It lets you make a wide range of system settings, from the same interface and apply all of them at once. You may also save multiple sets of adjustments and apply one or another immediately, with a single click.

Quick Config is free and it is not difficult to install it on your computer. You will have to download a setup file, which is roughly 4 Mb large and run it. You can choose a complete or a custom installation, which makes it possible to select what components to install. Regardless of how you install it, it will work the same way, without impacting your computer's performance.

Each set of configurations is saved in a different profile. Their icons are displayed on the interface and you can select one and click the Apply option, on the left side of the window. In this way, all the settings, saved in that profile, will take effect immediately. Besides the Apply option, you will find other ones for editing, deleting or creating new profiles.

When creating or editing a profile, you will work on a different window. The settings you can make are organized in categories, in a tree structure. Quick Config will automatically detect your current settings and installed applications, making it possible to change them with minimum effort. For example, you can change your default browser or email client, by selecting one from a drop menu. If you have multiple browsers installed on your computer, you will find them in the drop menu.

Other settings include changing the connection settings, IP address and other network related features, changing the power scheme (balanced, high performance or power saver), selecting a different output device for sounds, a different printer (virtual or otherwise) and many more. After making all these adjustments, you can apply them immediately or save them in a profile, by clicking the buttons on the bottom edge of the window. Before saving, you will have to name the profile and you may also type in a description, select an icon and a hot key for the profile.

The settings that are currently applied can be viewed after clicking an option on the left side of the interface. A new window will appear, with the same settings categories. Instead of drop menus, check boxes and other tools, you will find all the details regarding your system's configuration. Quick Config lets you export the profiles as XML files, so they can be imported at a later date. This aspect of the software can be very helpful. For example, if you reinstall your operating system, you can use the program to apply all your settings in a single run.

Pros

Quick Config covers various system settings and you can apply all of them at once. The program makes it possible to save multiple sets of configurations and export them as files on your hard drive.

Cons

You can see the applied settings, but you can only see a profile's configurations in the editing window. Quick Config can be used in numerous situations. If you are working on the road, with a laptop or if you are using various applications, which require different settings, you can make all the necessary configurations and apply them at once with this software.
